Four Tigers Earn All-SCAC Field Hockey Honors; Ellis Tabbed as Top Offensive Player

November 10, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Four DePauw student-athletes earned spots on the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Field Hockey Team and two were among the conference's top award winners.
Sophomore forward Margaret Ellis (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield) was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Year after breaking nearly every SCAC single-season record.
Ellis (pictured) set records for goals (24), points (51), points per game (2.55) and goals per game (1.20) and scored six game-winning goals. A three-time SCAC Player of the Week after transferring from Division I University of Richmond, Ellis ranked 11th in Division III goals per game and 22nd in points per game.
Forward/midfielder Chelsea Cutler (Fr., Victoria, British Columbia/Mount Douglas Secondary) also earned all-SCAC honors and was the conference's co-Newcomer of the Year. She scored three goals and added an assist this year and shared the honor with Centre's Chelsea Klein.
Earning honorable mention were sophomore midfielder Katie Broecker (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) and freshman defender Taylor Helms (Oklahoma City, Okla./Casady School).
DePauw finished the season with a 13-7 record including a second-place showing at the SCAC Tournament.
