Jim Powers Jr. '78 to Enter Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame

November 29, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Jim Powers Jr., a partner at Crowe, Chizek & Company and 1978 graduate of DePauw University, is among the 2011 inductees of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. A total of 15 players and the 1971 East Chicago Washington state champion team will be honored at the Hall's 50th Men's Awards Banquet, which will take place on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Primo Banquet Hall in Indianapolis.
A graduate of Elkhart Memorial High School, Powers "scored 1,235 points in his career, which began at Rochester High School," notes an item in the South Bend Tribune. "He still holds the school record with 611 points in the 1973-74 season, in which he led Memorial to a regional championship."
At DePauw, Powers was an economica major and earned two varsity letters playing for coach Elmer McCall.
Powers' father, Jim Sr., is also a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
