Mike Sullivan '91 Takes Coaching Reins of HS Wrestling Program

December 17, 2010

1179December 17, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — "Commitment and discipline. That's what first-year head coach Mike Sullivan is stressing with his Weston wrestling team as it enters the 2010-11 season," begins a story in Massachusetts' Weston Town Crier. Sullivan is a 1991 graduate of DePauw University.

"The team as a whole has very little varsity experience,'' Sullivan tells the newspaper. "I'm focusing on the positives and working to bring some stability to the program by getting back to basics.''

The story by Jack Cristofani tells of how Sullivan has created an "Ironman Award" to reward perfect attendance by team members.  In addition to Sullivan's DePauw degree, it notes that he has a master's degree in education from Cambridge College and is a Spanish teacher at the Field School in Weston.

"Sullivan has been coaching wrestling for 12 years and got his start as an assistant coach in Winchester before taking over as the head coach of Waltham wrestling. Sullivan has multiple league and section titles and has coached sectional, state, all-state, and New England champions. Sullivan said he hopes to bring to his new position the sum total of his experience."
