Broadway's Pee-wee, With Drew Powell '98, to Appear on HBO

December 30, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — "HBO will air The Pee-wee Herman Show on Broadway in January, shortly after the close of his highly praised Broadway run," reports Variety. The article notes that the show's Broadway cast includes Drew Powell, a 1998 graduate of DePauw University. "The stage show is based on Herman's original stage show as well as his Emmy-winning Saturday morning show, Pee-wee's Playhouse," writes Jon Weisman. "The broadcast will take place 30 years after the first HBO appearance by Herman (aka Paul Reubens), on its Young Comedians series."

Powell has appeared on the USA Network's In Plain Sight, the TNT series Leverage, and the USA Network's Psych. He's also seen in the motion pictures 1408 (which starred John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson) and The Marine. Powell's other roles have include a featured part in the PAX show The Ponderosa, and he was a recurring character in the FOX series Malcolm in the Middle. Powell also made appearances on CBS' Cold Case, NBC's The Office and ER, and FOX's House.Back
