Bishop Richard Raines to Address Graduates at 110th Commencement

6575April 14, 1949, Greencastle, Ind. — Richard C. Raines, Bishop of the Indiana Area of the United Methodist Church, will deliver DePauw University's 110th commencement address.  The program will take place June 12 at Blackstock Stadium.  Dr. Raines will speak on "Crisis and Character."

Four hundred and twenty-eight DePauw seniors are scheduled to receive degrees at the ceremony.

Before his appointment last year as bishop of the Indiana area, Raines was pastor of the Hennepin Avenue Methodist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  He is a member of the Federal Council, Churches of Christ in America; the Churches General Commission on World Service and Finance; and the5736 Commission of Evangelism.

On Saturday, June 11, the classes of 1924 and 1899 will observe their silver and golden anniversaries.  One of the highlights of the day will be the 1:30 p.m. groundbreaking for the Memorial Student Union Building.
