#15 Tigers Improve to 18-3 with Win at Centre

February 5, 2011, Danville, Ky. — The 15th-ranked Tigers held a 46-22 advantage on the boards leading to a 26-0 margin in second-chance points and a 67-54 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win at Centre. DePauw improved to 18-3 overall and 10-1 in the conference, while the Colonels dropped to 14-7 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
Centre held a 21-20 lead with just over five minutes left in the first half, but DePauw used a 12-2 run capped by Ali Ross' three-pointer with 1:01 left to take a 32-23 lead. The Tigers went to the break with a 32-26 lead.
The Colonels regained the lead early in the second half, but DePauw led by as many as six midway through half at 49-43. Centre still trailed by five at 53-48 with 6:00 remaining before the Tigers pushed the lead to 12 with a 9-2 stretch over the next 4:43.
DePauw's Ellie Pearson paced all scorers with a career-high 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds including eight on the offensive glass, while Katie Aldrich and Lauren Goff each scored 12. Katie Mathews followed with 11 points and 10 boards and Kate Walker dished out five assists.
Chelsea Benham led the Colonels with 18 points and Maggie Prewitt added 16 along with six rebounds and five assists.
DePauw shot just 38.7 percent from the field to Centre's 45.8 percent, but the Tigers snagged 21 offensive rebounds to the Colonels' four.
The Tigers return home for the final regular season games at the Neal Fieldhouse as they host Oglethorpe at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 11.Back
