Tigers Snap Losing Streak with Shutout Win over Franklin

March 29, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — Three DePauw pitchers combine to shutout visiting Franklin, 4-0, as the Tigers snapped a nine-game losing streak. DePauw improved to 8-14, while the Grizzlies dropped to 11-4.
Ben Gardner led off the DePauw first with a double an extended his string of games reaching base to all 22 this season. Rob McPike followed with a single to right center which scored Gardner and gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
In the fifth, Tigers catcher Sam Swafford reached on an error before Jason Cohen was hit by a pitch and Alex Wright singled to load the bases. Robbie Stein then cleared the bases with a triple to left center.
Franklin didn't advance a runner to third until the ninth inning and only placed five in scoring position throughout the game.
DePauw totaled eight hits led by Garner's two. Scott Windler had three of Franklin's nine hits, while Nick Stoia added a pair.
Hobs Donovan was credited with the win as the Tigers used three pitchers. Donovan improved to 3-2 after allowing just two hits and striking out three with no walks. Taylor Glaze suffered the loss for Franklin and dropped to 1-2.
The Tigers host Oglethorpe on Saturday in a Noon Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Walker Field.
