Tigers Drop 12-5 Baseball Decision at Wabash

April 13, 2011, Crawfordsville, Ind. — Host Wabash totaled 18 hits and scored in six different innings on the way to a 12-5 win over DePauw. The Tigers dropped to 12-18 with the loss, while the Little Giants improved to 14-18.
Wabash scored two in the first on Montana Timmons' two-run double before DePauw reached the board in the third when Alex Berlyn tripled and scored on Brandon Dountz's grounder.
The Little Giants expanded the lead to 6-1 in the bottom of the third as John Holm drove in John Pennington with a double and later scored along with Timmons when Tanner Coggins doubled. Coggins scored when Joe Johnson tripled.
DePauw came right back with four runs in the top of the fourth as Zach Galyean led off with a homer. Rob McPike singled, Jason Cohen walked and Alex Wright singled to load the bases. Robbie Stein's sacrifice fly plated McPike and Berlyn drove in Cohen with a single. Aaron Henry delivered a double which scored Wright.
Holm's solo homer in the fourth pushed Wabash's lead to 7-5 and the hosts added two more in the sixth and eighth innings and one in the seventh.
DePauw totaled eight hits with Galyean and Berlyn leading with two apiece. Chris Deig, Holm, Timmons and Johnson each had three for Wabash with Coggins following with two.
Brian Van Duyn improved to 2-3 with the win, while Mike Peterson dropped to 2-4.
The Tigers host Centre on Saturday in a Noon doubleheader.
