#17 Tigers Drop 6-3 Decision to #13 Bears

May 7, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. —  DePauw, ranked 17th in Division III, finished the regular season with a 13-9 record following a 6-3 loss to #13 Washington University. The Bears improved to 16-5 with the win.

DePauw held a 2-1 lead after doubles as the number-one team of Janelle Arita and Kelly Gebert topped Evelyn Qin and Natalie Tingir, 8-5. The third doubles tandem of Lizzy Whitlatch and Tricia Wilks topped Paige Madara and Corinne Rauck by an 8-5 score.

Arita picked up the Tigers' other point with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Tingir at number-one singles. DePauw dropped three-set matches at both second and third singles.

The Tigers open NCAA Division III Championship play next weekend at a site and time to be announced on Monday.
