Dick Johnson '76 to Contribute to Performance by West Suburban Symphony Orchestra

95888July 27, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. —  At an August 6 concert by the West Suburban Symphony Orchestra, "Local NBC broadcaster Dick Johnson will narrate Aaron Copland's familiar Lincoln Portrait, as the cornerstone to a concert that also includes Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man, Chip Davis' Heritage as performed by Mannheim Steamroller, selections from Rogers and Hammerstein's musical Oklahoma!, and medleys of traditional patriotic songs." The program, titled "Salute to America," will take place at Wentz Concert Hall at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.

Johnson, a 1976 graduate of DePauw University, is Sunday evening news anchor, general assignment reporter and backup weeknight news anchor at Chicago's NBC5/WMAQ-TV. He previously worked at Chicago's WLS-TV, KDFW-TV in Dallas and Indianapolis' WTHR-TV. Johnson serves on the advisory board of DePauw's Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media.
