Eric Mattingly '06 Named Head Baseball Coach at Indiana HS
September 16, 2011
September 16, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — Eric Mattingly, a 2006 graduate of DePauw University, is the new baseball coach at Indiana's Brownsburg High School. "Mattingly, an English teacher at Brownsburg High School, had been a varsity assistant at Warren Central from 2007 through last season and prior to that an assistant at Guerin Catholic," reports the Indianapolis Star. "Mattingly played on the Speedway High School baseball team that was a state Class 2A runner-up in 2001. He was a three-year varsity letter winner at DePauw University."
He replaces Pat Lowrey, who resigned because of medical issues.
"Coach Mattingly was so impressive in the initial baseball interviews that we did not want to miss the opportunity to have him on our staff and hired him as the varsity assistant coach in both football and baseball," says Brownsburg athletic director Greg Hill. "Because of his strong baseball background, he will transition easily as the head coach in Brownsburg's tradition rich program."
