#12 Tigers Blanked by Case Western Reserve in NCAA First Round

November 12, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — Host Case Western Reserve scored three second-half goals including two in a 43-secnd stretch to take a 3-0 win over DePauw in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Championship.

The Tigers, ranked 12th in and 17th in the latest coaches' poll, finished the 2011 season with a 16-3-1 record, while the Spartans improved to 15-4 and will face Ohio Northern in tomorrow's second-round contest.

Eric Erb broke the scoreless tie at 67:24 before Vinny Bell scored on Patrick O'Day's assist at 85:53. O'Day put the game away at 86:36 on Kostis Theoharides' assist.

Case held a 19-5 advantage in shots including a 7-3 margin in shots on goal. Each team totaled five corners.

DePauw's Nathan Sprenkel finished with four saves in goal, while Ben Yabrow totaled three for the Spartans.
