#12 Tigers Blanked by Case Western Reserve in NCAA First Round

November 12, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — Host Case Western Reserve scored three second-half goals including two in a 43-secnd stretch to take a 3-0 win over DePauw in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Championship.
The Tigers, ranked 12th in D3soccer.com and 17th in the latest coaches' poll, finished the 2011 season with a 16-3-1 record, while the Spartans improved to 15-4 and will face Ohio Northern in tomorrow's second-round contest.
Eric Erb broke the scoreless tie at 67:24 before Vinny Bell scored on Patrick O'Day's assist at 85:53. O'Day put the game away at 86:36 on Kostis Theoharides' assist.
Case held a 19-5 advantage in shots including a 7-3 margin in shots on goal. Each team totaled five corners.
DePauw's Nathan Sprenkel finished with four saves in goal, while Ben Yabrow totaled three for the Spartans.Back
