DePauw Jazz Ensemble Presents Friday Concert

93087November 14, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — The DePauw University Jazz Ensemble will present its final concert of the semester this Friday, November 17. The program will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium of DePauw's Green Center for the Performing Arts. There is no admission charge and the public is invited.

The concert, under the direction of Shawn Salmon, will feature twelve compositions and arrangements of jazz classics originally performed by such legendary jazz band leads as Count Basie, Jimmie Lunceford, Buddy Rich, Benny Carter, and Thad Jones/Mel Lewis. 5244

The DePauw Jazz Ensemble will perform Ella Fitzgerald’s classic A Tisket, A Tasket as originally recorded by Ella with Chick Webb Orchestra.

The program will also feature works by Sy Oliver (For Dancers Only), Johnny Burke and James Van Heusen (Imagination), and Bill Holman (Blues for Alfy).
