Maynard Poland '57 Publishes On Wings of Trust

December 9, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — Maynard D. Poland, a 1957 graduate of DePauw University, has published On Wings of Trust. Issued by Barringer, the book tells "the true story of Carole Leigh Litten's struggle to become a Navy, then a commercial pilot. Along the way, Carole overcame severe gender bias and resisted harassment. She also faced bogus threats of court-martial and imposition of needlessly dangerous pilot maneuvers by some instructors," notes a synopsis.

Captain Litten's memoir, as told to Dr. Poland, "is a tale of challenge and adventure that will interest and entertain anyone who has been in an airplane."
