December 31, 2011
"The hometown libraries of the three Indiana authors who were recently awarded the 2011 Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award will each receive $2,500 grants," begins an article in Greencastle's Banner-Graphic. "Emerging Author Winner Micah Ling, a 2003 DePauw University graduate, named the Franklin Branch of the Johnson County Public Library as the recipient of a $2,500 grant."
The Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award is a program of the Indianapolis Public Library Foundation and is funded through the generosity of the Glick Fund, a fund of Central Indiana Community Foundation. It is designed to recognize the contributions of Indiana authors to the literary landscape in Indiana and across the nation.
Ling has published two poetry collections, Three Islands and Sweetgrass.
"It is a huge honor to be recognized for the Emerging Author Award and now to be able to direct this grant to the Franklin library," says Ling, who majored in English (writing) at DePauw and earned an M.A. in 20th Century American Literature and the M.F.A. in poetry at Indiana University. She has taught at DePauw, Indiana University, Butler University and Franklin College.Back
