Fourth-ranked DePauw Hosts NCAA First and Second Round Games; Tigers Take on Westminster (Mo.) in Friday's Opening Round

Greencastle, Ind. - The 26-1 and fourth-ranked DePauw women's basketball team opens NCAA Division III Championship play on Friday, March 2, when it hosts Westminster (Mo.) College (22-4). The other first-round game at the Neal Fieldhouse in DePauw's Lilly Center features 23rd-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater (22-6) and Carthage (20-7).
Westminster earned automatic qualification into the 64-team field by winning the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament. Wisconsin-Whitewater and Carthage each earned at-large berths.
The Tigers are making their ninth straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship and 13th in the last 17 years. DePauw is 19-11 in NCAA postseason play including winning the 2007 Division III title and finishing third in 2002.
Westminster is appearing in its first NCAA Division III Championship and Friday's game will mark the first meeting between the Tigers and Blue Jays. Wisconsin-Whitewater is making its 12th appearance in the tournament and fifth straight. The Warhawks have a 15-11 tournament record including a third-place finish in 2008 after they defeated DePauw in the quarterfinals. Carthage is making its third trip to the tournament with the last coming in 2010 and the Lady Red have a 2-2 posteason record.
