#18 Tigers Improve to 17-3 with Win at LaGrange

LaGrange, Ga. - The 18th-ranked Tigers improved to 17-3 on the season following a 6-5 win at LaGrange. The win was DePauw's fifth straight and ninth in the last 10 games. LaGrange dropped to 11-16 with the loss.

DePauw took a 2-0 lead in the first after Zach Galyean reached on an error and scored on Rob McPike's single. Alex Wright singled and Robbie Stein walked before Brendon Pashia drove in McPike with a sacrifice fly to right.

LaGrange scored once in the bottom of the first as Evin Eichelberger and Anthony Iannetta each singled and stole a base. Jon Brock and Josh Shiver drew walks which allowed Eichelberger to score.

The Panthers tied the game in the third as David Miller doubled and scored when Shiver reached on a fielder's choice.

Chris Forbringer led off the DePauw fourth by reaching on a walk and stole second before scoring on Galyean's base hit. The Tigers expanded the lead to 4-2 in the fifth as Pashia drew a leadoff walk, advanced to second on a balk and to third on a wild pitch before scoring on Matt Dorsett's single through the left side.

DePauw expanded the lead to 6-2 in the sixth when Alex Berlyn drove in Pashia and Stein with a double to right center.

LaGrange added a pair in the bottom of the sixth after Miles Lee and Cameron Eison walked. Eichelberger's single scored Lee and, after Iannetta walked, Cody Muren drove in Eison with a grounder. The Panthers' final run of the game came in the seventh as Shiver reached on an error and Lee singled. Eison then brought home Shiver with a base hit.

DePauw totaled 11 hits led by McPike's three and Berlyn's two. Eichelberger and Lee each had three of LaGrange's 11 hits, with Eison chipping in a pair.

Jack Peck improved to 2-0 with the win, while Derek O'Kelley slipped to 0-3. Alex Sroka picked up his first save after pitching 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

DePauw travels to Oglethorpe tomorrow night for a 7 p.m. contest.
