Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw women's tennis program was well represented in the annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association awards programs, claiming three of the six top individual honors in the Central region.
Senior Kelly Gebert (far left) (Wichita, Kan./Kapaun Mt Carmel Catholic) was selected as the region's Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award recipient.
Gebert has an 17-14 singles record this season prior to competing in next week's NCAA Division III Singles Championship. She's also posted a 22-10 record in doubles play this season. She earlier earned first team all-North Coast Athletic Conference honors in singles and doubles.
Freshman Maggie MacPhail (near left) (Indianapolis/Park Tudor) earned Rookie of the Year honors. In her first collegiate season she's recorded a 23-8 singles record and played the number-two flight. She also finished with a 22-10 doubles mark where she played at the number-one spot with Gebert. MacPhail was a first team all-NCAC choice in both singles and doubles and was named the conference's Newcomer of the Year.
Andrew Gregory (right) was chosen as the region's assistant coach of the year. Gregory joined head coach Scott Riggle's staff prior to the 2010-11 season and has helped lead DePauw's women to a 32-17 record over the last two seasons including a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title in 2011 and a North Coast Athletic Conference championship in 2012. In each season the Tigers earned a spot in the NCAA Division III Championships and advanced to the third round.
