DePauw Scores Three Goals in Five Minutes and Tops Bridgewater for 5-3 Win in Season Opener

Lynchburg, Va. - Three different Tigers scored once each in a 4:30 stretch of the second half to expand a 2-2 lead on the way to a 5-3 victory over Bridgewater in the season opener for both schools.
Bridgewater's Megan Gould put the Eagles up 1-0 on Caroline Augsburger's assist at 20:03 and that's how the score remained at the intermission.
Paige Henry knotted the contest with an unassisted score at 39:06 and Bridgette Shamleffer made it 2-1 Tigers on Maggie Campbell's assist just 48 seconds later.
Taylor Prillaman's unassisted goal only 19 seconds after Shamleffer's tally evened the score at 2-2.
Margaret Ellis scored, unassisted, at 51:22 to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead before Henry added her second score exactly four minutes later on Campbell's assist. Campbell then notched her third assist of the game 30 seconds later as she helped Micheline Figel score to make it 5-2.
Bridgewater closed the gap to 5-3 as Joan Burleson scored at 58:47 n Caroline Fletcher's assist.
DePauw held a 27-9 edge in shots including 15-3 in the second half, while Bridgewater led in corners, 7-6.
The Tigers return to action on Sunday as they face seventh-ranked Lynchburg on its home turf at 11 a.m.
