Three First-Half Goals Propel DePauw to Win over Allegheny

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw scored three goals in the opening half and clinched the second seed at the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament following a 4-1 win over visiting Allegheny.
The Tigers improved to 12-1-4 overall and finished NCAC play at 6-1-2. The Tigers will host an NCAC semifinal game on Wednesday against Hiram. Game time to be announced. Allegheny dropped to 13-4-1 overall and 5-3-1 in NCAC competition.
Dean Weaver wasted little time in getting the Tigers off to a 1-0 lead as he scored at 3:30 on Andrew Desmarais' assist. Adrian Ables made it 2-0 on George Elliott's assists at 20:10 before Elliott rounded out the first-half scoring at 34:14.
Andy Morrison delivered his ninth goal at 60:50 with Weaver's assist before the Gators reached the scoreboard at 76:52 on Joe Caruso's goal with Timothy Egan assisting.
DePauw outshot Allegheny, 14-8 including an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal. The Gators led in corners, 7-6. Tony Halterman stopped four shots for the Tigers with Allegheny's John Lichina recording four saves.
