Fourth-ranked Tigers Win Tourney with Victory over Hosts

DSC 5289Milwaukee, Wis. - DePauw scored the game's final 13 point over the last four minutes to take a 61-39 win over host Wisconsin Lutheran in the championship game of the Dunn's Sporting Goods Tipoff Tournament. The fourth-ranked Tigers improved to 2-0, while the Warriors dropped to 1-1.

DePauw shot just 30 percent from the field and held a slim one-point lead, 23-22, at the break. The Tigers stretched the lead to as many as nine in the opening six minutes of the second half, but Wisconsin Lutheran pulled back to within four at 38-34 with just under nine minutes remaining.

Alex Gasaway's layup stopped the Warriors' run and her three-pointer just 1:38 later capped a 9-0 run and pushed the Tigers' margin to 47-34 with just over seven minutes left.

The Warriors briefly trimmed the lead to single digits at 48-39, but DePauw scored the final 13 points to pull away.

Gasaway (pictured) paced the Tigers with 19 points, while Kate Walker chipped in 10 with a game-high eight assists. Alison Stephens hauled down a career-high 10 rebounds as DePauw held a 44-34 edge on the boards.

Shavon Dillon led Wisconsin Lutheran with 12 points and eight rebounds.

DePauw returns to action on Wednesday, November 21, when it hosts Wilmington in a 3 p.m. contest.
