Walker Named NCAC Player of the Week

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw senior guard Kate Walker (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) was recognized as this week’s North Coast Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after her performances in three Tigers victories last week.

In the three wins, Walker averaged 9.7 points, 5.3  rebounds and 5.7 assists while committing just three turnovers for a 5.7:1 assist-to-turnover ratio.

She scored 18 points, grabbed seven rebounds and recorded two steals in 31 minutes against Washington-St. Louis. Her two free throws with seven seconds left against the Bears gave the Tigers a one-point win. She also dished out seven assists each against Wilmington and Illinois Wesleyan.

DePauw, ranked third in the latest Division III Coaches' poll, beat Wilmington (73-44), Washington (60-59) and Illinois Wesleyan (75-52) to improve to 5-0 for the first time since 2002. Washington and Illinois Wesleyan both were ranked in the top 10.

The Tigers travel to Denison on Saturday for the NCAC opener at 2 p.m.
