14th-ranked DePauw Wins Invitational

Greencastle, Ind. - The 14th-ranked DePauw men totaled 1,161 points and won the DePauw Invitational by 435 points over runner-up Rose-Hulman.
DePauw's 200-yard medley relay of Alex Alfonso, Matt Kukurugya, Matt Gleason and Jack Burgeson started the day by winning in 1:33.26 which broke the meet and Erdmann Natatorium record.
The Tigers took the top three and five of the top six spots in the 50 freestyle led by Blake Lehmann's win in 21.06 seconds after he went 20.95 in the prelims.Burgeson was second in 21.34, while Matt Bacinich placed third in 21.84.
Alfonso notched an NCAA "B" cut in the 100 backstroke in 51.74 seconds and Alex Grissom did the same in the 200 free in 1:41.51 which also broke the meet and pool records. Matt Haeske was second in 1:43.07.
Kukurugya was second in the 200 breast in 2:08.07 with Luke Hessburg finishing third in 2:09.99 and Jordan Bantista third in 2:13.93.
Casey Hooker was just .2 seconds shy of an "A" cut in the 100 butterfly prelims at 49.54 and won the event after going 49.64 in the finals to also break the meet and pool records.
Bantista was second in the 1,650 free in 16:47.53, while Mike Curts placed third in 17:28.50.
The Tigers' 400 free relay of Hooker, Alfonso, Burgeson and Lehmann won in a "B" time of 3:04.81.
