DePauw Drops Third Straight; Hosts Kalamazoo Wednesday

Terre Haute, Ind. - Host Rose-Hulman snagged 17 offensive rebounds and held a 13-5 edge in second-chance points on the way to a 52-39 win over DePauw. The Tigers dropped to 4-4 with their third straight loss, while the Engineers improved to 10-1.
DePauw grabbed a 5-0 lead as Barry Flynn hit a pair of jumpers and a free throw, but Rose-Hulman responded with eight straight in a one-minute span to take the lead for good.
The Tigers trailed 14-11 midway through the first half before the hosts went on a 10-2 run capped by James Pillischafske's three which made it 24-13. The Engineers took a 28-19 lead into the intermission.
Rose-Hulman scored the first five points of the second half and eventually led by as many as 20 at 46-26 with just over nine minutes remaining.
Flynn was DePauw's lone double-figure scorer with 11 points and led the way with four blocks. Tommy Fernitz, Michael Wilkison and Connor Rich each grabbed four rebounds. Wilkison and Kevin Sullivan each totaled three steals.
Julian Strickland led the Engineers with 20 points with Austin Weatherford chipped in 13. Strickland and Jon Gerken each hauled down six rebounds.
Each team shot just under 39 percent from the field, but the hosts made four more field goals including four more three-pointers. The Engineers also held a 34-25 advantage on the boards.
DePauw returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, December 19, when it hosts Kalamazoo at 1 p.m. It's Faculty/Staff/Senior Appreciation Day at the Neal Fieldhouse with all faculty,staff and senior citizens receiving a hot dog or popcorn and a drink.
