Five Women Represent DePauw at NCAA Championships

March 19, 2013

Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw women’s swimming squad, coming off of a strong showing at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, will be represented by five student-athletes at the NCAA Division III Championships at the Conroe Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas, (March 20-23).

Women’s 500 Freestyle – Sophomore Emily Weber gets the meet going for the Tigers as the 30th seed in the 500 freestyle with a qualifying time of 5:03.03.

Women’s 50 Freestyle - Freshman Caroline Bridges is the lone DePauw swimmer in this event, coming in seeded 26th after stopping the clock at 23.82 at the NCAC meet.

Women’s 200 Medley Relay - The 200 medley relay team of Erin Horne (back), Dana Zerbini (breast), Nicole Rossillo (fly) and Bridges (free) looks to make a splash in this event and make a large time jump from their 28-seed and 1:55.56 time. This could be an event in which the Tigers have an opportunity to surprise the entire meet as they look to drop a few seconds of time since conference.

Women’s 200 Free Relay - Bridges, Weber, Rossillo and Horne team up in a relay team that is seeded 18th for this event with a time of 1:35.86.

Women’s 200 Freestyle – This is the lone event in which DePauw sends multiple swimmers into the pool for an individual event. Bridges and Weber are the Tigers' qualifiers after notching times of 1:52.85 (27) and 1:53.66 (43) at the NCAC Championships, respectively.

Women’s 800 Freestyle Relay – Bridges, Weber, Zerbini and Rossillo are part of not only the Tigers' highest seeded relay, but event in whole, coming in ranked 11th after achieving a 7:37.30 time.

Women’s 1650 Freestyle – In the longest event on the NCAA docket, Weber is scheduled to begin this event with the 20th-fastest time after a 17:21.02 performance at the NCAC Championships.

Women’s 100 Freestyle – The last individual swim of the meet will be by Bridges, who comes in with the 16th-fastest time at 51.67.

Women’s 400 Freestyle Relay – In the last event for DePauw at the NCAA Championship, the Tigers send Bridges, Rossillo, Weber and Horne into the pool after qualifying 15th with a time of 3:30.28.
