Tigers Drop Doubleheader to Fifth-ranked Trine

Angola, Ind. - DePauw's offense collected just six hits in the doubleheader at fifth-ranked Trine and the Tigers dropped both games by scores of 5-2 and 8-0. The Tigers, who hadn't played since March 10, dropped to 4-8, while the Thunder improved to 15-1.
In the opener, Trine pitcher Andi Gasco helped her own cause with a leadoff homer in the second, but DePauw responded in the third as Samantha Szyska singled and scored on Amy Hallett's double.
Gasco drew a leadoff walk in the fourth and scored on Lauren Harris' homer. Carly Searles hit a leadoff homer in the fifth and then drew a bases loaded walk in the sixth that scored Riley Larkin for the game's final run. DePauw's second run came in the top of the sixth as Linsey Button homered with two outs.
Hallett had two of DePauw's four hits, while Searles paced Trine with two of its six hits.
Gasco improved to 7-1 with the win, while Haleigh Chasteen suffered the loss and dropped to 1-2.
In the nightcap, Aurora scored two in the first, three in the third and ended the game with the eight-run rule with three in the fifth.
The Tigers totaled just two hits with Button and Chasteen each collecting singles. Searles, Leah Hall and Rachel Harris each had two of Trine's 10 hits.
Kahla Nolan suffered the loss and dropped to 0-1, while Bree Fuller improved to 6-0 with the two-hitter that included nine strikeouts.
DePauw faces Aurora tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. CDT at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, Ill.
