DePauw Drops Twinbill to Aurora

Sugar Grove, Ill. - DePauw dropped to 4-10 on the season after losing both ends of a doubleheader against Aurora at Waubonsee Community College by scores of 7-0 and 7-1. The Spartans improved to 8-2 with the sweep.
In the opener, Aurora scored a pair in the first on a two-run double by Sarah Clauser before Lillie Stone drove in one with a double in the fourth and Mia Henderson followed with a three-run homer in the frame. Henderson drove in the Spartans' final run in the fourth on a fielder's choice.
Tigers collected just five hits with Haleigh Chasteen collecting two. Tristan Wilcox and Clauser each had two of Aurora's nine hits and Henderson drove in four.
Vanessa Hartzell improved to 2-1, while Kahla Nolan dropped to 0-2.
DePauw grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first of the nightcap as Samantha Szyska led off with a single, moved to second on Catherine Conte's bunt and came home on Linsey Button's single to left.
The lead held up until the bottom of the fifth when Wilcox gave Aurora the lead with a three-run homer. Vanessa Wegner, Alana Weitzenfeld and Kristin Shaffer each added RBI singles in the inning. Wilcox added a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth for the game's final run.
Four different Tigers collected one hit apiece, while Wilcox led the Spartans with three and Wegner added a pair.
Chasteen dropped to 1-3 with the loss, while Natalie Zanella improved to 5-0.
The Tigers return to action tomorrow afternoon with a 1 p.m. CDT doubleheader at third-ranked Illinois Wesleyan.
