DePauw Salutes Seniors, Falls To Kenyon

Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw women’s lacrosse team capped off their home North Coast Athletic Conference slate with a 24-8 loss to the Kenyon Ladies on Saturday, April 27, at Lower Boswell West Field in Greencastle, Ind. Prior to the game, a triumvirate of DePauw seniors, Knubbe Kunz, Kelly Harms and Natalie Swiler were honored for their accomplishments in building the program from the beginning.

With the loss, the Tigers dropped to 4-7 in their inaugural season and 1-6 in NCAC play. Kenyon moved to 11-2 and 7-1 in the conference.

Four separate Tigers registered tallies in the scoring column, led by Carey Kunz’s three goals. Swiler and Maryclaire Heldring each added a pair of scores while Knubbe Kunz scored one. Elizabeth McCracken notched the only helpers for the Tigers, dropping two during the match.

Emily Nichols led the Ladies with six goals during the match; however she was outdone by teammate Leah Sack who accumulated nine points, scoring three goals and six assists.

Amy Clark tended the net for the Tigers, stopping 11 shots in the loss. Kenyon’s Meredith Bentsen picked up the victory after tallying 13 saves and stopping all four DePauw free position opportunities in the second half.

Kenyon outshot DePauw, 46-27, throughout the match and controlled the draw 21 times out of a possible 34 draws.

The Tigers close out their NCAC schedule with a game against the Wittenberg Tigers on Monday, April 29 in Springfield, Ohio.  The game will begin at 5 p.m. (ET).
