Rev. Kate Smanik Honored by Indiana Network for Higher Education Ministries

Katherine E. "Kate" Smanik, director of DePauw University's Center for Spiritual Life, is the recipient of the Dr. E. Max Case Memorial Award. Presented by the Indiana Network for Higher Education Ministries (INHEM), the Case Award honors an individual who has shown a passion for and success in engaging higher education students in questions of faith exploration, vocation, purpose, and spirituality.
"In her director role Rev. Kate Smanik serves the needs of students on the DePauw campus who wish to explore, celebrate, and deepen their religious and spiritual beliefs," notes INHEM's announcement. "She was recognized for her successful initiatives to develop relationships with local churches, to develop on campus programs to meet the needs of the diverse Christian student body, and to create spiritual and religious opportunities for those DePauw constituents from other faith traditions. In addition, Rev. Smanik created a substantial Jewish life program and hired a Jewish Life Coordinator to meet the needs of the Jewish population."
The honor includes professional development funds for Rev. Smanik as well as an etched jade glass award.
