Tigers Roll in Season Opener

Naperville, Ill. – The DePauw men’s basketball team opened its 2013 campaign with an 85-39 blowout win over Trinity International at the Chicago Marriott Naperville Tip-Off Tournament held at North Central College. The Trojans dropped to 1-6 with the loss.
DePauw jumped out to a quick 16-2 lead and extended it to a 44-18 halftime advantage.
The second half proved to be more of the same as the Tigers cruised to victory outscoring Trinity 41-21 in the half. DePauw shot 48% from three-point range, draining 12 in the contest.
Connor Rich led the Tigers with 14 points on 4-5 three-point shooting, while Pat Haggin posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jeff Sustarisc added 10 points in the win.
Blake Mann paced Trinity International with 13 points and Andy Stauffer grabbed 11 rebounds.
DePauw held a 51-39 edge on the boards including 20 on the offensive glass in a contest where they never trailed. The Tigers shot 40.9 percent from the floor, but were just 19-36 from the line for 52.8 percent.
The Tigers are back in action Saturday night when they take on host North Central College in a 7:30 p.m. CST tipoff.Back
