Hot Shooting Lifts DePauw to Win in NCAC Opener

Wooster, Ohio - Top-ranked DePauw shot 53 percent from the floor and hit 12-of-23 three-pointers on the way to a 98-68 win at Wooster in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both schools.
The Tigers improved to 7-0 with their 41st straight win and 60th consecutive regular season victory, while the Fighting Scots dropped to 5-2.
The hosts got out to a 9-2 lead in the opening three minutes, but Alex Gasaway hit a jumper and a three-pointer before Ali Ross knotted the score at 9-9.
Wooster's last lead was at 17-15 after Sydney Failing's layup. The Tigers rattled off 11 straight including six by Ross to grab a 26-17 lead with 7:09 left in the half. DePauw stretched the advantage to 51-32 at the break.
The hosts were still within 17 in the opening six minutes of the second half, but an 11-2 DePauw run put the game away.
Ross paced all scorers with 22 which equaled her career best, while Gasaway followed with 19. Ondik matched a career high with 18 while hitting 5-of-6 three-pointers and Abby Keller scored a career-high 13 in just nine minutes.
Maura Hall led Wooster with 17 points with Karley Walker chipping in 14.
DePauw held a 43-30 advantage on the boards with Keller snagging eight and Hall leading Wooster with nine. The Tigers also totaled 26 turnovers led by Hannah Douglas' five and committed just 12 turnovers.
DePauw travels to Spalding next Saturday for a 3 p.m. contest.Back
