Tigers Split Sunday Games; Finish Weekend with 3-1 Record

Memphis, Tenn. - DePauw wrapped up its opening weekend four-game set with a split today including a 3-1 win over Maryville and a 3-0 loss to host Rhodes. The Tigers moved to 3-1 on the season.
In the Maryville win, the Tigers scored twice in the second as Sammi Bell led off with a single, stole second and scored on Megan Landahl's single. Landahl, who went to second on the throw, stole third and came home on Grace Hendrickson's sacrifice bunt.
Maryville countered with one in the top of the third as M Mihaliak singled to short with one out and moved to second when Taylor Dockery reached by being hit by a pitch. Mihaliak later scored on a DePauw error.
Taylor Golden led off the DePauw third with a single and moved to second on Morgan Pigusch's sacrifice bunt. Linsey Button then delivered a two-out run-scoring double to right center.
DePauw finished with eight hits as Button had two and six other Tigers collected one each. Four different Scots had one hit each.
Haleigh Chasteen improved to 2-0 in the circle by scattering four hits and not allowing an earned run. Kayla Aloisi suffered the loss for Maryville.
Against Rhodes, DePauw managed just five hits and twice left two runners stranded. The Lynx took a 1-0 lead in the second when Courtney Williams, Allycia Kleine and Daniele Smith each singled and Williams scored on an error on Smith's hit.
Jessica Brown's solo homer in the third made it 2-0 and Rhodes added one more in the fifth when Christine Hume led off with a double and scored on Brown's single.
Kahla Nolan dropped to 0-1 with the loss, while Forrest Skelton took the shutout win.
DePauw travels to Emory to face Messiah and the hosts.Back
