Alex Gasaway Earns Academic All-America® Honor

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw senior forward Alex Gasaway has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-America® Division III Women's Basketball Third Team. The team is selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
One of 15 NCAA Division III student-athletes selected to the team, Gasaway holds a 3.59 cumulative grade point average while majoring in communication with a film studies minor. She's been named to DePauw's Dean's List all seven semesters.
Gasaway is a Media Fellow at DePauw and served an internship with the Ellen DeGeneres Show in addition to holding leadership positions with the University's student-operated D3TV. Last spring she was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma National Scholar Athlete Honor Society.
On the court, Gasaway was a third team D3hoops.com All-America selection last season after leading the 34-0 and Division III national champion Tigers in scoring (12.9 ppg) and field goal shooting (53.3%). She also earned first team all-North Coast Athletic Conference honors as a junior.
She entered the season as a D3hoops.com First Team Preseason All-America choice and is second on the team with 12.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
Gasaway currently ranks ninth in school history with 1,128 career points, eighth with 624 rebounds and ninth with 41 blocked shots. Gasaway is one of just two players in DePauw history with at least 1,100 points and 600 rebounds in her career.
In all, DePauw student-athletes have earned 50 Academic All-America® honors since Ike Tallman's selection to the 1958 football team. The complete list of DePauw honorees is available here.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
