David McMillin '06 Places Fourth in Telluride Troubadour Competition

David McMillin, singer/songwriter and 2006 graduate of DePauw University, placed fourth in the Telluride Troubadour Competition. Held in conjunction with the Telluride Bluegrass Festival since 1991, the competition is open to anyone who writes and performs original music and who is not currently signed to a major recording or publishing deal.

Contestants are judged on the quality of the song’s composition, vocal delivery, and the overall performance. This year's competition drew approximately 300 submissions.

McMillin, an English (writing) major and cum laude graduate of DePauw, is currently at work on a new solo album, as well as a collection of recordings with his band, Fort Frances.  You'll find additional information and a song here.

As a solo artist, McMillin has toured with Grant Lee Buffalo, Shelby Lynne, the Goo Goo Dolls, Sister Hazel and Marc Cohn, and was named a 2008 "Reader's Choice Award" winner for best folk, country, or Americana act in the Chicago Reader. In 2013 he returned to his alma mater as a guest of DePauw's Performing Arts Series.
