Robert Schrier '57 Receives Rector Scholar Achievement Award

June 5, 1982, Greencastle, Ind. - Robert W. Schrier, chairman of the department of medicine at the University of Colorado Medical Center and 1957 graduate of DePauw University, is the recipient of the Rector Scholar Achievement Award.  The honor was presented to Dr. Schrier this weekend at his alma mater's Alumni Weekend activities.

The award is presented each year to an outstanding Rector Scholar in the silver anniversary class.  Selection is based on service, community leadership and professional accomplishment since graduation.

An international authority on nephrology, Schrier was his class' recipient of the Walker Cup, presented annually to an outstanding DePauw senior.  He studied on a Fulbright Award in Germany, earned the M.D. at the Indiana University School of Medicine and then did post-doctoral work at Harvard, London Hospital, and Walter Reed Hospital.  He joined the Colorado medical staff in 1982.ectower dusk

His honors include the presidencies of the American Society of Nephrology and the Western Association of Physicians.  Schrier has also served as treasurer of the International Society of Nephrology, is on the editorial boards of eight medical journals, and is a member of DePauw's alumni board.
