Chris Biggs '59, Who Taught English at DePauw for 30 Years, Dies at Age 77

Christena "Chris" Doyle Trusler Biggs, a 1959 graduate of DePauw University who was a longtime instructor of English at her alma mater, passed away on Saturday, January 17, in Greencastle. She was 77 years old.

Born May 10, 1937 in Connersville, Indiana, Chris Biggs received a bachelor's degree in English literature in 1959 and a M.A.T. in English in 1972.

After graduation, Biggs taught English at Indiana's Chili High School. She returned to DePauw in 1973 to teach freshman English and continued until 2003.

She was also a familiar face to many alumni, parents and students for her work at the front desk at the Walden Inn (now known as the Inn at DePauw). Biggs also worked six years at the front desk of Asbury Towers in Greencastle.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, at Meharry Hall, located within DePauw's historic East College.
