Nonprofit Honors Sophomore as 'Big of the Year'

April 16, 2015

DePauw University sophomore Evan M. Atkinson has been honored by Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Indiana as one of the organization's four "Bigs of the Year" for 2015.

An article in the Bloomington Herald-Times notes Atkinson's honor and that he "is a member of the DePauw men's golf team and Sigma Chi fraternity."  Matched with a young man named Vesper, Atkinson -- an economics major and history minor at DePauw -- says his experience shows that people can make "a real difference through the natural process of friendship."

The text adds, "With a 43-year presence in the community, Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Indiana has impacted more than 11,000 local children and fostered more than 11,000 match relationships. None of this would be possible without the commitment and passion that our Bigs put into the relationships with their Littles."

The news is also noted on the nonprofit organization's website.
