Rick Weinheimer '78 Authors Move Your Chair: A Guide to Everyday Excellence

November 28, 2015

Rick Weinheimer, boys and girls cross country coach at Indiana's Columbus North High School and 1978 graduate of DePauw University, shares his "life-altering motivational story and many others taken from his 40 years of teaching and coaching in his new book, Move Your Chair: A Guide to Every Day Excellence," notes a story in the Columbus Republic. "The 59-year-old coach has guided North to five boys and one girls cross-country state titles."

The article relates an experience Weinheimer had as a DePauw student athlete that impacts him to this day.

"I want to tell high school and college kids out there that they are gemstones that need to be polished," says Weinheimer, who majored in English. "Kids today grow up in a negative world because of things like peerdp newspaper pressure and social media. They need to internalize the lessons in this book, so they can become positive, independent thinkers. A positive attitude is countercultural in today’s society and young people need to know that someone else believes in them."
