Metropolitan Opera Stage Manager Scott Moon '83 to Speak in Florida

January 7, 2016

Scott L. Moon, stage manager for the Metropolitan Opera in New York and 1983 graduate of DePauw University, will address Florida's Freedom Plaza Opera Club on Tuesday, January 12, reports the Tampa Tribune. The free program is titled "Backstage at the Met."

"Visiting his parents, Scott has generously consented to share some of his fascinating work experiences with (the) opera group as he has done in the past," it notes.

"He first went on stage, in a high school production as a singer, but -- he is adamant -- 'not of operatic ilk.' He attended DePauw University and worked both on stage and back stage in musicals, doing and learning it all. Post graduate studies were at Ohio University, where he majored in theater arts. His first stage manager position was at the Red Barn Theatre in Frankfort, Indiana, dp newspaperand then came stage managing at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Santa Fe Opera and Miami Opera. He has held his position at New York’s Metropolitan Opera for 25 years."
