February 24, 2017

Tim Cooper, a 1997 graduate of DePauw University, has been appointed a quality control assistant for the University of Pittsburgh football program. Head coach Pat Narduzzi calls Cooper, who will work with the Panthers' defense, a "seasoned pro" and "major asset."

"Cooper spent the past seven years as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Butler University," notes Pitt's announcement. He's also served as defensive quality control assistant at Indiana University (2009), secondary coach at Miami University, defensive coordinator at Carroll University in Wisconsin, and was a graduate assistant at Connecticut, and a defensive coaching assistant at Rhode Island.

He began his coaching career as "an offensive graduate assistant working with the running backs at his alma mater, DePauw University, in 1997 and 1998. A standout linebacker and team captain for DePauw, Cooper helped the Tigers to the 1996 Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference (ICAC) championship."

An elementary education major at DePauw, Cooper holds a master's degree from Indiana State University.
