October 22, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — What do citizens expect and deserve from journalists? How well do traditional "Fourth Estate" journalists and emerging "Fifth Estate" journalists and information providers serve the needs of our communities? Does the public have a responsibility to financially support journalism in a democracy? Those questions and others will be explored in a Tuesday, October 27 forum at DePauw University -- "The State of Journalism: The View from Hoosier Land" -- which will examine the strengths and struggles of journalism in Indiana.
The program is free and open to the public and begins at 7 p.m. at the Prindle Institute for Ethics, located within the
DePauw Nature Park.
