April 11, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - A paperback edition of Philolaus of Croton by Carl A. Huffman, professor of classical studies at DePauw University, is now available from Cambridge University Press. The publisher calls the book "the first comprehensive study for nearly 200 years of what remains of the writings of the Presocratic philosopher Philolaus of Croton (470-390 B.C.)."

Dr. Huffman has also had an article on Pythagoreanism published in the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, the fifth contribution the professor has made to the online resource. The latest article covers some 2,500 years of Pythagoreanism and can be accessed here.
Another book by Carl Huffman, Archytas of Tarentum: Pythagorean, Philosopher and Mathematician King, was published last summer.
