Also: Karl Rove and Howard Dean Debate Issues at DePauw
October 27, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — "Rove and Dean have previously debated each other at DePauw University in Indiana," notes a story previewing tonight's debate between Karl Rove and Howard Dean at Penn State University. The two national political leaders squared off at DePauw on September 11 as part of the Timothy and Sharon Ubben Lecture Series. It marked their first-ever joint appearance on a college campus.
Another story in the Philadelphia Inquirer adds, "It's not the first time Dean and Rove have shared the stage. They appeared with former Senate Majority Leaders Tom Daschle and Bill Frist on health care in Georgia in May and lectured together at DePauw University in Indiana in September."
Tonight's event is presented by the Penn State Student Programming Association's Distinguished Speaker Series and will focus on health care issues. Read more by clicking here.
The Dean-Rove debate at DePauw generated media coverage and was noted by Karl Rove in his September 16 Wall Street Journal column.
Established in 1986 through the generous support of 1958 DePauw graduates Timothy H. and Sharon Williams Ubben, the Ubben Lecture Series was designed to "bring the world to Greencastle" and presents events which are available for students, faculty, staff, alumni and the local community to enjoy. Steven Levitt, co-author of SuperFreakonomics, will speak on Monday, November 30.
