With the end of the academic year, the "old" fitness center in the Lilly Center quickly moved into demolition phase. The space occupied by what used to be the fitness center and workout space will become a set of multi-purpose rooms for spin class, fitness groups, and dance, among other activities.
Over the course of the last few days, the old fitness equipment has been removed and demolition is well underway. Until the new Welch Fitness Center opens in August, a temporary workout space has been set up in the Indoor Tennis and Track Center.

The wood ceiling of the lobby in the expanded Lilly Center is nearing completion this week, as crews continue to make progress on the interior finishes of the building. With classes coming to an end for the academic year, crews have also shifted their focus to the renovation of some existing spaces within the building.
Work continues on the lobby of the renovated and expanded Lilly Center. The wood ceiling is being installed as crews work on the main staircase and complete drywall.
As of Tuesday morning, crews had already begun initial demolition on the hallway just outside the former fitness center within the Lilly Center. Renovations along this hallway will make room for updated recreational locker rooms, and for the repurposing of the fitness center space into multi-purpose rooms for dance, spin classes and other activities.

After months of planning and preparation, the construction process at the site of Hoover Hall -- the University's new dining hall -- is now underway.
From Saturday's announcement:
Construction efforts at the site of Hoover Hall, the University’s new 48,600 square-foot dining hall, are officially under way following a commencement weekend groundbreaking ceremony in the shadow of East College.
The new hall will fulfill a core element of the University’s Campus Master Plan, which was approved by the Board of Trustees in October of 2010 and called for the transformation of the campus core into a place of greater connection, contemplation, and creativity. Hoover Hall, which will sit just north of Hanna Street along Burkhart Walk, will replace the current “Hub,” a food-court-style dining hall in the Memorial Student Union Building, and will serve as the primary dining space for first-year students and upper-class students living in University housing.
Many of those who have helped make...
