Project Logistics: Lilly Center Expansion and Renovation

Do you have questions about building access during construction? The following outlines important logistical information about building use and access during the course of the Lilly Center project.

Will the lilly center be open during construction?

Yes, the Lilly Center will remain open throughout the course of construction efforts.  Though specific portions of the building will close periodically to accomodate specific elements of the project, every effort will be made to ensure that the buildings core functions remain available and accessible, particularly during the academic year.

Which existing entrances to the Lilly center remain accessible?

Once construction begins, the main entrance to the Lilly Center (off of College Street) will be closed.  Visitors will be asked to utilize the North Entrance (accessible from the walkway between the Lilly Center and the Julian Math and Science Center) when coming in and out of the building.

will there be any extended periods when portions of the building will be closed?

Though every effort will be made to minimize lengthy closures, there will be periods in which portions of the building must be temporarily closed.  For example, Erdmann Natatorium will close following the end of the 2012-2013 swimming and diving season so that a new roof can be installed.  The natatorium will re-open in August of 2013, ensuring that the pool is available for the 2013-2014 swimming and diving season.

Will parking be affected by construction?

The primary parking lots serving the Lilly Center (including the Julian Math and Science Center Lot and the Peeler Art Center Lot) will remain accessible.  Visitors will not, however, be permitted to park along portions of College Street or Olive Street.

When will the lilly expansion and renovation project be complete?

The expansion and renovation of the Lilly Center will likely take approximately 18-months, with a goal of completing the project in advance of the 2014-2015 academic year.  For more information on the project timeline, please consult the complete project timeline.
