Edwardo Rhodes: Environmental Justice
February 20, 2013
Edwardo Rhodes, Professor Emeritus from Indiana University and author, spoke here at DePauw University on the importance of Environment Justice. The speech, given in Peeler Auditorium on Wednesday, February 20, focused on the importance of how we look at environmental issues in our society. From Cancer Alley in Mississippi and Louisiana to the Love Canal in upstate New York, Dr. Rhodes made the argument that all people regardless of race, color, national origin, income, location, gender, etc., deserve fair treatment and meaningful involvement when decisions about the environment are being made.
Peeler Auditorium was packed full of students, professors, and faculty alike for the Wednesday night speech. Dr. Rhodes' new book, Environmental Justice in America: A New Paradigm, can be found here.
