It's a wrap!

After finishing a wonderful spring semester, we'd like to thank and recognize DePauw's Sustainability Steering Committee, who worked diligently throughout the year: Deepa Prakash, Dick Vance, Jim Ruark, Kellin Stanfield, Cara Setchell, Rich Cameron, Jennifer Everett, Jeane Pope, Carol Steele, Christopher Wells, Anthony Baratta, Ali Pistoia, and Alicia Whitney. We look forward to adding new members to the team and continuing new initiatives at DePauw in the weeks and months ahead. Have a great summer!

Sustainability Steering Committee presents to Board

The Sustainability Steering Committee presented to the Board of Trustees in May, and DePauw University will now undertake several new initiatives. The University will conduct a comprehensive sustainability assessment to determine options for financial savings and decreased environmental impact, pursue external funding for a highly visible project like solar panels, develop a "green revolving fund" to invest in high return on investment (ROI) sustainability projects, and support the development of robust building standards to guide future renovation and constructions.

Our Green Tiger of the Month is Steve Santo

Departing Dining Services Manager Steve Santo has been a consistent, wonderful ally to sustainability efforts at DePauw. In late April, Steve served hundreds on Earth Day for the annual Good Eats Dinner, and days later coordinated the Campus Farm Kick-Off Dinner. Thank you, Steve, for all of your wonderful contributions to DePauw University.

Earth Week 2013: A Success!

Earth Week became a campus-wide celebration in 2008. This year, Earth Week 2013 centered around Jane Goodall's visit to campus. Events ranged from Divestment workshops with Divest DePauw to a Conflict Minerals discussion with J.D. Stier and back-to-back performances of Elements, the student dance performance. Thank you, DePauw, for another great Earth Week!

Campus Farm Kick-Off Dinner

The Campus Farm Kick-Off Dinner, organized by our Green Tiger of the Month Steve Santo, fed 150 students, faculty, and community members on April 24. Delicious local food was served while each participant left with a commemorative glass.
