Teach For America Deadline
|
|
The next Teach For America deadline is October 28 before midnight!
Educational inequity is a national issue; what can YOU do about it? Teach For America is a national organization that combats the injustice of unequal educational opportunities by recruiting student leaders to go teach in low-income areas in the U.S. for a two-year period after graduating from an undergraduate institution.
As a student, you are receiving an education that will create future opportunities in your life. As a TFA teacher, you can GIVE an education that will create future opportunities - opportunities that once seemed unreachable - in a child's life. Here's your chance to make a difference - become a leader for change.
Please visit www.teachforamerica.org for more information or feel free to contact Lauren Weatherall with questions and/or concerns.

The State of Journalism: The View From The Hoosier Lane
|
|
Tuesday, October 27
7 - 9 p.m.
The Prindle Institute for Ethics, DePauw University
(Open to the public)
What do citizens expect and deserve from journalists? How well do traditional "Fourth Estate" journalists and emerging "Fifth Estate" journalists and information providers serve the needs of our communities? Does the public have a responsibility to financially support journalism in a democracy?
We will explore these issues and more in a forum that examines the strengths and struggles of journalism in the Hoosier state.
Join journalism leaders from around Indiana, citizens from our region, DePauw students and faculty for a spirited discussion on these important issues.
This forum is a collaboration between The Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics at DePauw and The Poynter Institute for Media Studies, an internationally-recognized leader in the training of journalists and media leaders.
Professor Bob Steele, the Eugene S. Pulliam Distinguished Visiting Professor of Journalism at DePauw, will host the forum and lead the discussions.
