INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING

Counselors are available to provide individual, short-term counseling for a variety of difficulties experienced by students. Typical concerns presented by students who seek counseling include: 

  • alcohol or drug-related difficulties 
  • anxiety/stress management 
  • body image concerns or eating disorders 
  • depression 
  • relationship difficulties 
  • self-esteem 
  • sexuality 
  • sexual victimization 
  • suicidal thoughts 

All information shared in counseling is treated in a confidential manner.

GROUP COUNSELING

Time limited psychotherapy groups, typically involving 11-13 sessions, are offered by the counseling staff. Groups are open to individuals with a variety of concerns and goals. Occasionally, structured, topic-focused groups are offered. 

Individuals interested in group counseling should call Julie Chapin or schedule an individual appointment and convey the interest to the individual counselor. 

CONSULTATIONS

Questions/concerns regarding students’ mental health are addressed through consultation. This service is available to administrators, faculty, staff, students and students' families.  Students can call to discuss personal questions/concerns or to ask about concerns regarding other students.
