Emergencies

When a student experiences an emergency such as suicidal thoughts, panic/anxiety attacks or physical or sexual assault, an emergency counseling session appointment or telephone contact will be scheduled the same day of the emergency call. 

When an emergency occurs during office hours:

(9a.m.-5p.m. MWF; 9a.m. -Noon and 1p.m.-5p.m. TTh): 

1. Call Counseling Services at 658-4268. 
2.  Identify the situation as an emergency. 
3. The secretary will arrange an appointment or telephone consultation with a counselor. 

When an emergency occurs between office hours or during the weekend: 

1. Call DePauw Public Safety at 658-4261. 
2. Identify the situation as an emergency. 
3. The dispatcher will either have a counselor contact the student immediately, or refer the student to a 24-hour crisis hotline service.
